What is organza fabric?

Also known as organzine, this fabric is a favorite among women of all ages & tastes. It is not just breathable, but also forms dreamy drapes! Flowy and fuss-free all at once, organza dons many hats. In India, it is majorly used for making dupattas and sarees, both of which are a closet staple for women. An organza saree looks just as great on a girl in her early 20s as it does on a woman in her late 50s! It is not as exquisitely crafted as the quintessential Banarasi saree or other heritage types, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t just as heart-winning.

Organza fabric is sheer and very low density. Now, let’s look at ways or organza saree styling.

1) Keep it playful!

Word on the street is that ruffled sarees are making waves, and we’d love to catch it too. The industry has been obsessed with the fun, feminine variation, and better yet when it’s made from organza! While a normal, printed organza saree is definitely awe-worthy, the bubbly ones can benefit more from ruffles and volume.

Since organza as a fabric is not sturdy, you might want to curb it a little with a bejeweled saree belt that can either be stitched the way you want or bought on any online shopping app. We can say with certainty that you will be stealing the spotlight when you step out in this look!

2) Sensual & Surreal

Nothing screams ‘chic’ more than a cute bralette, and nothing says ‘sensual’ more than an organza saree! Styling organza saree by bringing these both together to create a look that will be remembered forever. If you identify as a desi diva, there’s nothing better than trading your blouse for a bralette, and just letting yourself enjoy the best of both worlds.

Bralettes have taken the fashion world by storm, and we can see women of all shapes and sizes flaunting them with an array of pairings. You too can add your unique touch to this look. If you find yourself wondering where you’ll get the best bralette though, websites famous for online shopping in India will give you all you need!

3) Edgy Elegance

When it comes to millennial dressing, every single person is looking for something gram-worthy. The same goes for Gen Z! That’s why, we think pairing your organza saree with western wear essential, i.e. a turtleneck tee will be an instant hit among your friends. Not only does this make for a great destination wedding look, but also ensures you can wear both contemporary as well as traditional jewellery, while we would personally side by a mix of both!

Since organza sarees are among famous silk sarees in India, you are sure to find hundreds of accessories that perfectly match your chosen drape! And if not, then just turn to a pair of sunglasses and you’ll be set.

4) Double Up On The Fun!

Organza sarees are already known to be one of the most playful drapes, especially due to how lightweight they are. Take advantage of this attribute by experimenting with the blouses. One extremely popular pick is dramatic sleeves. You can go heavy on the frills too, if that’s your thing! Don this with layers and layers of organza drapes for maximum impact. Make sure you secure every end tightly though, since it’s easy for this fabric to slip out of control at a moment’s notice. If you need cues on how to wear saree, we’ve got you covered.

5) Floral Perfection

Flowers on your organza saree or flowers in your hair, why choose just one? Go with both, and add freshness to your look! Let a pretty rose or another flower you love act as an accessory and place it carefully in your hair, securing it with pins and rubber bands. This makes for a great wedding outfit, whether it’s yours or someone else’s.

6) Standout Pairings

A lot of us tend to get our blouses tailor-made to ensure the perfect fit, and we’re on that list too. But now with trendy organza saree blouse designs emerging every season, it’s a great idea to go a little risque and not stick to the same old. The best way to do this is to look at your dream designer labels and loosen up your pockets, or put together your favourite elements and reach out to your usual tailor. We bet your outfit will look all the more stunning with the latest blouse designs for organza sarees that add a unique, youthful touch to them!

Caring For Your Organza Saree

The only way to ensure your outfit stands the test of time is to look after it, dedicatedly. If you put in the effort to ensure you do right by whatever fabric you own, whether it’s natural or synthetic, it will surely reap benefits for years and years. Organza sarees demand a little more care, especially if they’re made from pure silk. Their delicate nature not only makes them prone to damage, but the fact that they are sheer can give away even minor wear & tear. We’ve got a few tips & tricks up our sleeve if you have indeed, invested in a dreamy organza drape.

  • Trade machine washes for handwashes to retain the organza saree style, and always do so very delicately. The key is to use cold water as opposed to warm or even lukewarm water, and use a detergent that is marked ‘delicate wash’
  • Don’t wring dry! This is where your clothes suffer the most, especially if you need them to retain quality. Just press & squeeze the water out of your saree. It takes more time than usual, but you’ll thank yourself for it later.
  • Make sure to let the water stay running until all the soap is out, as leaving even a little bit in can harm the organza threads, thus making your outfit look slightly dull with every wash.
  • Always air dry organza and don’t put it in the dryer for convenience! Lay it out on a clean, flat surface or use a clothes hanger for the same.
  • Flat irons can prove to be risky for this fabric, so if you have a steam iron, use that on your organza saree to remove any wrinkles that may have formed. If you are using a flat iron though, don’t use it directly.
  • Once your saree is washed, ironed and folded, wrap it up in a muslin cloth before storing it away in your closet.
  • If you know you’re not going to wear it for a long time, make sure to refold it in regular durations. This will prevent pesky creases from forming, which in the long run are really difficult to fully get rid of.
